Wecome to Bejeweled, A colaborative efford of a past colleague of mine and I to try and recreate candy crush
Let's start of with the rules at the bottom. These are the the standard game rules of candy crush re-explained for those who are unfamiliar with the game. Once you have read them you can press close which brings you back to the main menu
Next you can press the "about" button. This will bring you to a page displaying both my colleague and I's name and age at the time. You can press close again to return to the main menu
Now you can press the "high score" button. This will show a page of the top 10 highscores recorded on that device
Now you can press the options button. This will show you three options to change the theme of the game. You can chose for Dark mode, light mode or for those feeling brave; blind mode. Blind mode removes all 'gem' styling and just shows blank squares in-game. This makes it incredibly difficult to match any gems with each other
When you press play, you will be asked to provide your name and you will then be brought to the game itself. Here you have to match 3 gems in a row, getting 4 gems in a row will turn one of them into a blaster gem which upon matching with it's corresping color will destroy all gems surrounding itself. Matching 5 of one color in a row will result in a super gem which you can swap with any color gem and it will remove all those color of gem from the current grid
During the game, you have a timer that is constantly running out. Destroying gems gives both points and bonus time. When your time runs out, your bonus time will be added. You can keep adding bonus time until you fall behind and time runs out
Once time has completely run out, you will be shown an ending screen displaying your score and you can visit the high score page to check if you are on there. This was an incredibly fun project to do in colaboration and has taught me a lot about programming as a whole
